Director Has Ideas for “Spider-Man 4″

Friday, June 29th, 2007

samraimiThe next “Spider-Man” movie may have as many as six new villains for the hero to face. That is what director Sam Raimi would like to do if he is brought back again to make the fourth movie. Raimi would like to bring the Sinister Six, a team that is made up of a half-dozen Spider-Man adversaries such as The Vulture, The Lizard, Mysterio, Kraven the Hunter and the Sandman and Doctor Octopus, two bad guys introduced in the last two “Spider-Man” movies.

While speaking with MTV at a special event awarding winners of “Spider-Man” fan films Raimi said that he would like to include The Lizard in the next movie. “The Lizard is probably one of my favorite characters,” Raimi said. The human side of the character has already been introduced and has appeared in the past two movies, one of Peter Parker’s professors at college, Dr. Curt Conners (played by Dylan Baker.) “But [’Spider-Man 4′] will probably have to start with the central journey of the main character to arrive at the proper villain.”

As for returning behind the camera lens for “Spider-Man 4”, Raimi explains that it all depends on whether Sony Pictures wants him to come back and if he can develop a tale that excites him. If either one of those two considerations can’t happen then Raimi will move on and be happy to see what happens next in the continuing adventure of Peter Parker and Spider-Man. “But if it’s a great story and Sony will bring me back to the screen, I would love to,” added Raimi.

casinoroyaleThe man behind Halle Berry’s topless scene in “Monster’s Ball” will direct the next James Bond picture. Director Marc Forster has been selected to shoot the 22nd 007 movie which is scheduled for release on November 7, 2008. Daniel Craig will play the British secret agent for the second time in the movie which still doesn’t have a title. The screenplay was written by “Crash” director and “Million Dollar Baby” screenwriter Paul Haggis.

One rumor that has surfaced about the new Bond movie is that “Black Book” actress Carice Van Houten may be cast as the new Bond lady. If that rumor does indeed come to pass then the blonde starlet will only be able to play in the new 007 film after she finishes making “Valkyrie” this year. Van Houten has just been cast to play the love interest of Tom Cruise’s character in that film.

rumerwillisBruce Willis will soon be making a picture with one of his daughters. Rumer Willis has been cast along with her more famous father and former “The O.C.” star Mischa Barton in the dark comedy “The Sophomore”. The daughter of Demi will play the sidekick to the most popular girl in a Catholic high school (Barton’s character) while Dad will be the school’s demented principal, a former Desert Storm army soldier that can’t let go of his glory days. The movie will be played as a dark comedy that finds the school’s students discovering a conspiracy involving the theft of the SAT exams and corruption at the school.

Music video director Brett Simon will start filming the movie this August. This is the second film that Willis has starred in with his daughter after Rumer played his character’s daughter in 2005’s “Hostage”. She has also starred in two of her mother Demi’s films, “Now and Then” and “Striptease”.

Sean Connery Not Returning to Indiana Jones

Friday, June 8th, 2007

indy3Sean Connery has decided that he will not star in “Indiana Jones 4”. The 76-year-old Scottish born actor has issued a statement on the official Indiana Jones website stating that his reason for not reprising the part of Indy’s stuffy dad is due to enjoying his time off. “I thought long and hard about it and if anything could have pulled me out of retirement it would have been an Indiana Jones film. I love working with Steven and George, and it goes without saying that it is an honor to have Harrison as my son. But in the end, retirement is just too damned much fun.”

Also announced at the time was the long rumored involvement of Academy Award-winner Cate Blanchett (“The Lord of the Rings”) and actors Ray Winstone (“The Departed”) and John Hurt (“V for Vendetta”). The three join the already announced Shia LaBeouf who will play the son of Indiana Jones. Filming has started on the movie in Connecticut and it will be out in theaters next May 22.

Bruce Thinking About a Fifth “Die Hard”

Tuesday, June 5th, 2007

diehard4As momentum continues to build towards the release of “Live Free or Die Hard”, Bruce Willis has gone on the record about the possibility of making a fifth movie in the franchise. According to ISEB.net, Willis said “I told them I’d only do it if Len [Wiseman] was involved and Maggie Q and Justin [Long] of course. It’s been since ‘95 so [it’s been] 12 years and 21 years is the span of all four of ‘em. So, you can see me when I’m 31 and you can see me when I’m 52. So you guys will decide.”

There has also been a little bit of controversy with fans of the popular action film series. Unconfirmed reports have surfaced that the new “Die Hard” was about to receive a rating of PG-13 which would make it the only picture among the four films that didn’t get an R rating. There has been speculation that the more timid rating would be issued because of the film’s toned down violence and swearing, even going so far as to not have Willis’s character say his trademark “Yippee-kay-yay-#$@!” line. So far the film’s owner, 20th Century Fox, hasn’t commented on the rumors and the final rating for “Live Free and Die Hard” hasn’t been released. We will know for sure when the movie opens in theaters on June 27.
