“Borat” funnyman turns social activist for director

After director Steven Spielberg finishes working on “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull” he will turn his attention toward his next project and he’s already found the right actor. The Sunday Times is reporting that the “Schlinder’s List” and “E.T.” creator has approached none other than Ali G comedian Sacha Baron Cohen to star in “The Trial of the Chicago 7”. Cohen would play Abbie Hoffman, the 1960s hippie who became one of the principal architects of protest against the Vietnam War. During the height of Hoffman’s notoriety the activist and several other protestors disrupted the 1968 Democrat convention which then erupted into violence.
Cohen is making the transition to become more of a serious actor with his role opposite Johnny Depp in “Sweeney Todd”. His performance as “Borat” turned the 36-year-old into a worldwide star. Cohen followed his “Borat” show with memorable performances in “Telladega Nights” and “
