Fighting on the set of “Four Christmases”

Friday, December 14th, 2007

vince_vaughn.jpgOscar-winning actress Reese Witherspoon and comedian Vince Vaughn aren’t celebrating the festive spirit while making their new comedy “Four Christmases”. According to reports the two actors are squabbling all the time and disrupting the flow of work. The trouble allegedly began when Vaughn began showing up to the set looking like he was out the whole night partying while Witherspoon turns up early and looks ready to begin work. The “Legally Blonde” star is also described as being a perfectionist, wanting to get the shot right in one take and plan every move and line uttered to its maximum potential. That isn’t the way that “The Wedding Crashers” leading man likes to make movies, preferring a more casual, laid back and ad-libbed approach to acting. The two clashing personality types have been at it since the start of production and now it’s threatening to disrupt the rest of the shoot if the matter isn’t resolved soon. According to one anonymous informant Vince will sometimes stand behind Reese and make a face that he wants to kill her!

If the movie ever does get finished filming it will arrive in theaters next holiday season. The film is about a married couple (Witherspoon and Vaughn) that spend December 25 rushing to spend time with each of their divorced parents and their extended families.

Christmas Plans for Reese and Vince

Wednesday, August 22nd, 2007

reesewitherspoonReese Witherspoon and Vince Vaughn will topline “Four Christmases” for New Line Cinema, a holiday picture about the children of modern day divorced parents. Witherspoon and Vaughn will play a young married couple who frantically try to spend an equal amount of time at each of their divorced parents Christmas Day celebrations resulting in four trips and turkey dinners to eat. The comedy had been in development at Sony Pictures two years ago but when that studio decided to make “Christmas With the Kranks” instead they let thir other Christmas themed project go and eventually New Line picked it up. A director has also been found named Seth Gordon and whose documentary “The King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters” earned good box office results last weekend.

“Kong” shows us a showdown between two masters of the 1980s video arcade game “Donkey Kong”, one an unemployed average joe and the other an ego-driven superstar who is a legend among the arcade enthusiasts. New Line also wants to turn Gordon’s documentary into the basis of a comedy and the director sees “Serenity” star Nathan Fillion as the right kind of guy to play the part of the underdog that aims to beat the record “Donkey Kong” high score that has stood for over twenty years.

When it comes to show biz comedy, Vince Vaughn is close to the top of the pile of A-list stars. The “Wedding Crashers” and “Dodgeball” headliner has just struck a deal with Universal Pictures where he made “The Break-Up” with Jennifer Aniston last year. The agreement with Universal allows for Vaughn and his production company, Wild West Picture Show Productions, to develop comedy projects for the movie studio for two years. Three different projects are already brewing including one titled “Male Doula” based on an idea of Vaughn’s. The other two would-be movies would be produced by Scott Stuber (who Vaughn worked with on “The Break-Up”). One is being written by former “Swingers” cast member Jon Favreau about couples that attend a retreat to reinvigorate their marriages while the other is called “Realtors” and set in the high-pressure world of commission-based home equity sales.

Vaughn will next be seen playing “Fred Claus”, the older brother of Santa who comes calling for a little help and a place to crash at the North Pole. It arrives in theaters in early November.
